About us
Our History
Karadi is an Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisation established in 1988. For 38 years, it has represented, advocated for, and delivered health, mental health, wellbeing, community, youth, aged care, employment, short-term accommodation and education services to Tasmanian Aboriginal people and the broader community within Southern Tasmania.
Karadi is proudly the only Aboriginal neighbourhood house in Tasmania. It works closely with a broad range of partner organisations to support the social and emotional well-being of our community.
Karadi is a registered Aged Care provider and is currently working towards Quality Improvement Council accreditation.
Our Team
At Karadi, we are proud to be a multidisciplinary team comprised of individuals with diverse experiences, skills, and perspectives. Our staff bring together diverse backgrounds in health, community services, governance, quality, aged care, housing, cultural engagement, administration, and more. This mix of expertise enables us to provide holistic, culturally safe, and person-centred support to the community.
What connects us is our passion for walking alongside community, sharing our skills, and supporting people in ways that are caring, respectful, and culturally safe. We’re proud to work together, combining our strengths to make a positive difference every day.
Our Board
Karadi’s Aboriginal-led skills-based board oversees the strategic, financial and cultural direction of the organisation. Meeting monthly, the Board, supported by its CEO, is focused on supporting the organisation to deliver high-quality culturally led services that meet the needs of its community.
